We are going on a field trip! to the Norfolk Botanical Garden (NBG) on Thursday, February 21, 2019. This day trip will be in lieu of a program at our regular venue. The Chapter will sponsor the entry fee for members. There will be organized car/van pools so members (and guests) will need to register with Paula Boundy on email by February 15th at 8:00am:

This is in lieu of our February meeting in Wicomico Church – its still winter and we thought a private tour of a professional Winter Interest Garden is just what we need.
The day will begin from one or more locations in Kilmarnock in early morning, approx. 7:30am to allow 1.5 hour travel time to Norfolk. Arrive at opening time 9am, tour gardens with a guide, lunch at location to be determined (not in entry fee) and continue exploring as long as each carpool desires. Departure time would be 3pm or as late as 5 when NBG closes.
There are several gardens that are interesting and the whole group may split up depending on shared interests; however, our focus is “Winter Interest” native plants. The Holly Garden and Turner Sculpture Garden has peaked Paula’s curiosity. We also want to see the Four Seasons Garden and Wildflower Meadow - in the winter, to observe how the professionals manage it as a lesson for use in our own landscapes. There are also the Conifer Garden where there is a Bald Cypress and the Fern Glade. The Virginia Native Plant Garden consists of mainly trees according to its description…web link:
