Northern Neck of Virginia Native Plant Society
October Meeting and Program 3-5 pm
Thursday, October 20, 2022 Dug In Farms
155 Fleets Bay Road, White Stone, VA
Join member Carolyn Quinn for a tour of Dug In Farms and enjoy refreshments from the farm and the company of fellow members and native plant lovers.
Carolyn will show us how she has developed from a very small egg and vegetable stand into a sustainable farm and nursery, and in 2020 became the recipient of the Virginia State University Small Farm Outreach Program's Andy Hankins Small Farmer of the Year award.
Carolyn began farming eight years ago after moving from Washington, D.C. where she worked as a lobbyist. She now raises vegetables, cut flowers and runs a farmers’ market on her farm. In addition, Carolyn is committed to being one of the Northern Neck’s largest retail outlets for Native Plants. She enthusiastically grows and sustains many native plants that support pollinators on her 9-acre property, making it one of the most productive sites on the Annual Lancaster-Northumberland Butterfly Counts. Dug In Farms has hosted a number of community events including art and photography workshops in the garden, cooking demonstrations and more. The meeting and tour promise to be informative and exciting as she shares her successes and plans for the future.
All programs are free and open to the public
A brief business meeting will precede the tour.
